Decline of the American Empire

I offer this as photographic evidence.

The Hair Salon in "American Girl", a doll store in Manhattan.

The dolls go for well over $100 US. The haircuts? Only $20.

We saw families outside the store with bags upon bags of stuff - perhaps thousands of dollars worth.

I have a daughter - and if she ever wants this stuff - too bad. Unless she earns the money for it herself, in which case - no problem.

Oh, and she'll have to pay for the flight to NYC as well.
