Straining

In the final stretch of the Head of the Trent, two men's eights vie for supremacy. As this is a staggered start race, passing another boat means you are indeed having a very good race! You should have heard the near boat giving the far boat the gears as they strained to pass them, as the near boat tried to step up their pace.
